Chicagoland is filled with love.

The effort to beat the record for the largest dog wedding ceremony will take place on October 2 at Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva, Illinois.

The current record, which was established 15 years ago in Littleton, Colorado, is 178 married dog couples, according to an announcement from the upcoming event. The effort to break the record is the organizer’s second.

The ceremony fell short of setting a new record for the most dog couples in 2021, but it still succeeded in raising money for many animal rescue organizations.

Diamonds in the Ruff is the name of the endeavor to have the biggest dog wedding on Sunday. Along with assisting canine couples in their relationship, the event aims to raise $100,000 for K9s for Warriors, other service animal organizations, and neighborhood animal rescue groups. K9s for Warriors is a charity organization that places trained service dogs with veterans.

The ceremony will include a red carpet, processional music, and champagne toast, but the champagne will be replaced with pet-friendly goat’s milk from The Honest Kitchen. The event is sponsored by Pet Supplies Plus.

Live music, entertaining freebies, and a PEOPLE photo booth will also be present at Diamonds in the Ruff so that the attendees’ canines can pose for pictures with famous people.

Canines can engage without a pup mate. Dogs who register for the event alone will be paired up during the ceremony with another animal looking for a partner.

Visit the event website to find out more about Diamonds in the Ruff, including the safety measures put in place to guarantee that every dog has a nice time.
