Niall Harbison, a local dog rescuer, was riding his moped through the streets of rural Thailand when he heard a peculiar noise coming from the bush. He abruptly halted on the spot.

By pure accident, Harbison said in an Instagram post, “I came around the bend on my usual path and heard an ear-piercing scream.”

Harbison noticed a little, sand-colored dog writhing in the dark brown grass and drove over to get a better look.

As Harbison stooped down, the nervous puppy dodged him, trying to get away.

“I could feel her shaking and her little heart racing at a million beats a second,” Harbison told The Dodo.

Once the puppy realized Harbison was trying to help, she began to relax into her rescuer’s hands.

Harbison saw minute motions in the surrounding grass as he contemplated his next move.

The two sisters of the puppy were soon discovered by him. In the forest, the entire family had been left behind.

In a way, Harbison admitted, “I was a bit happy.” The puppy had not, at least, been abandoned by itself.

Harbison carefully loaded the three puppies onto his moped and rode them safely.

Here is a video of their rescue operation:

The puppies slowly relaxed in Harbison’s dog shelter where they were safe. After a few hours, their vigor and confidence started to come back.

“They were shaking with the cold and still very nervous for a few hours,” Harbison said. “They then got back to being puppies and causing mayhem by playing with each other, eating and drinking and sleeping, and generally being cute!”

The sisters, who are now known by the names Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney, will continue to reside at the shelter until they have fully recovered and are large enough to start looking for their permanent homes.

These three may now unwind and enjoy being puppies without worrying about supporting themselves.
