More than 11,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands injured after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on Monday. The loss of life is devastating and in addition to the loss of human lives, thousands of buildings have collapsed and freezing temperatures have made it difficult for search and rescue missions.
Greece, Libya, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Poland, Mexico and Germany, as well as many other countries, have sent teams of rescue workers, doctors, firefighters, structural engineers and rescue dogs to aid in the mission.
